Steve Waddell

Steve has dedicated over 40 years to supporting fundamental global transformation through community organizing, consulting, education, and research. His work spans local to global initiatives with organizations such as the World Bank, Global Reporting Initiative, Ford Foundation, and Future Earth, focusing on creating innovative organizing structures for systemic change.

In the 1980s, Steve co-led the transformation of VanCity Savings, the world’s largest community credit union. He pioneered intersectoral collaboration in the 1990s and developed global change networks like the UN Global Compact and Transparency International in the 2000s. Recently, his focus has been on “transformation systems” for collective action, as Lead Steward of Bounce Beyond and FEST.

Steve’s publications include Societal Learning and Change (2005), Global Action Networks (2011), and Change for the Audacious (2016). With a Ph.D. in sociology and an MBA, he lives in both Boston and western Massachusetts with his husband.
