CHANGING THE ECONOMIC STORY

Today’s economic story badly needs changing. For as long as any of us can remember the shared goal of the global economy has been the growth of national GDP. Within that idea of success, economies extract  from nature and exploit people in the interests of financial and economic gains. This orientation is producing environmental collapse and massive inequities. The biodiversity of our land, oceans, and wildlife can no longer support this approach. The injustice and marginalization of people means many go hungry and experience degrading injustices, while others have wealth beyond imagination. Climate change and ecosystem collapses threaten humanity’s future. All this destruction takes place in a world of unprecedented material and financial wealth, and unsurpassed human and technological potential. 

Bounce Beyond works with the growing number of people and initiatives who are developing a new story and actions to support system transformation to wellbeing economies. Though they take a number of different approaches to whole system change, they have in common: a desire to develop economies based in new values and principles that support the interconnectedness of the flourishing of sentient beings, communities, and planet. Within the wellbeing economy  paradigm is the reconception of a humans as complex and caring beings, who live and work in systems that can support people’s highest aspiration and greatest potential within planetary boundaries.
